A devastating multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 805 just north of Palm Avenue on Saturday morning left one woman dead and several others hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred at approximately 8:53 a.m., when witnesses reported a black vehicle traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph. A female driver, who was later transported to a hospital, said she noticed the speeding vehicle approaching rapidly from behind. In an attempt to avoid a collision, she changed lanes — but the black car swerved into the emergency lane and struck a disabled vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder. The force of the impact launched the black vehicle back into traffic, where it crossed multiple lanes and collided with two additional vehicles. All three vehicles ultimately came to rest in the center divider, with one white car ending up stacked on top of a blue vehicle. Authorities say the occupants of the white and blue cars — a male and female — were able to exit their vehicles on their own. The driver of the black car, a male, was found rendering aid to a female who was on the ground nearby. It remains unclear whether she had been ejected during the collision . Another woman remained trapped inside the black car and required extrication. The female occupant of the originally disabled vehicle was also extricated but was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
