A dramatic high-speed pursuit through South Los Angeles early Saturday morning ended with the arrest of a suspect who allegedly brandished a firearm and attempted multiple getaways, including during a chaotic street takeover. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident began around 4:45 a.m. when officers attempted to pull over a white Chevrolet Camaro near Santa Fe Avenue and Alameda Street. The driver failed to yield, sparking a dangerous pursuit through city streets and across several freeways, with the suspect reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour. The chase took a wild turn when the Camaro stopped at a street takeover event. There, the suspect exited the Camaro and fled on foot before reportedly jumping into a second vehicle. Law enforcement agencies, including LAPD, CHP, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), continued the pursuit of the second vehicle. Radio reports indicated the suspect may have held a gun to the driver of the second vehicle in an apparent carjacking during the street takeover. Shortly afterward, the suspect once again bailed from the vehicle and ran into the surrounding neighborhood near Bell Avenue and 77th Street in the Florence–Graham area .After an intensive ground search, officers located the suspect hiding beneath a parked vehicle. He was taken into custody without further incident.
