April 23, 2025 – Vista, CA – A barricade situation in Vista on Tuesday morning ended with one suspect in custody and a homicide investigation underway, according to local authorities. At approximately 10:00 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence at 731 N Citrus Avenue for a welfare check after a family member reported they had been unable to reach the suspect’s mother. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a male suspect who barricaded himself inside the home. SWAT units were called to the scene and, after several hours, deployed flash bangs and smoke devices to encourage the suspect’s surrender. Shortly after the tactics were employed, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. Homicide investigators have been requested to assist, though details remain limited. Reports suggest the suspect’s mother may have been inside the home with possible life-threatening injuries, but this information has not yet been officially confirmed . Authorities noted that the same suspect had a history of violence involving his mother. Approximately two years ago, he allegedly assaulted her and dragged her down the street before barricading himself inside the same residence.
