SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA – April 9, 2025 | 12:15 AM — A violent two-car collision early Tuesday morning resulted in a fatality after one of the vehicles crashed into a gas station at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Normandie Avenue in South Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred shortly after midnight. Two vehicles collided, with one car veering off the roadway and slamming into a nearby gas station. That vehicle sustained catastrophic damage, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The second vehicle came to rest in the street. Witnesses reported seeing the driver flee the scene on foot, prompting a hit-and-run investigation by CHP officers. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether DUI or excessive speed played a role in the crash. The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin . Traffic in the area was heavily impacted while investigators worked to document the scene and search for surveillance footage or additional witnesses.
