SAN DIEGO, CA — April 6, 2025 | Approx. 5:15 a.m. — A man is facing multiple felony charges after a dangerous early morning pursuit that began in City Heights and ended with the suspect ramming a police vehicle in San Diego’s Teralta East neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).The incident began when an SDPD officer spotted a male driver sitting idle in a left-turn lane at a green light on University Avenue. Suspicious of the unusual behavior, the officer approached the vehicle. Upon making contact, the driver suddenly fled, triggering a pursuit. The suspect led officers to the 3800 block of Edna Place, where he pulled into a parking stall at the Bridgeport Apartments. As the pursuing officer stopped behind the vehicle, the driver put the car in reverse and intentionally rammed the officer’s cruiser twice, police said. Additional SDPD units arrived, and a “Hot Stop” was conducted at gunpoint. The suspect eventually surrendered but remained aggressive and uncooperative during the arrest. He is expected to face multiple felony charges, including assault on a peace officer, felony evading, and resisting arrest.
