February 28, 2026 – Downtown Los Angeles, CA — A woman was killed and a driver arrested for DUI following a violent two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning at 3rd Street and Figueroa Street. At approximately 2:00 a.m., officers with the Los Angeles Police Department and personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the crash involving a white SUV and a white sedan. Authorities said a female passenger in the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and found unconscious and not breathing. Firefighters performed CPR while transporting her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the white SUV was evaluated at the scene, administered a DUI test, and subsequently arrested for driving under the influence. The driver of the white sedan remained at the scene and was not transported. A second ambulance was later requested for a male complaining of head pain. Friends of the victim were seen at the scene, visibly distraught. Police stated that an earlier call regarding possible street racing near 2nd Street and Figueroa Street had been received, though it has not been confirmed whether it was related to the collision.
